Pucón

My favorite part of Pucón, Volcán Villarica. Definitely one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. You can see it from everywhere in this area and it's so cool. It's very active and at night you can even see the orange glow from the lava. I couldn't stop taking pictures of it. One of the best things I've encountered in Chile.

Happy 100th post to me! I'm happy to say I have something actually interesting to blog about. My trip to Pucón! Pucón is this little touristy town about three hours north of Valdivia and I completely fell love with it.

We left Friday morning (I hope I don't have to see 6am again for a long time) and got there 3 hours later. We got to see the Mapuche village. Mapuche are the indigenous Chilean people. It would have been cooler if we couldn't see their real houses and cars and all that. But it was a cool experience. After that we got some free time. I love the little town, it's really touristy and you can almost pretend you're in the U.S.! I'm definitely going back when I have more time. That night we got a really nice dinner and then we went to the hot springs which was awesome. I've never been to a natural hot springs and it was amazing. We stayed at an amazing hotel. Our room was basically a little apartment. No one wanted to leave.

The next day we woke up early, had a really good breakfast, and headed off to a really tall mountain for a really long hike. It was supposed to be 4 hours long, Laura and I gave up after two (we hate hiking on flat ground let alone straight up and down mountains.) and the others came back after 7 hours. Seven hour hike? No thank you. I don't care how beautiful the top is. Laura and I got to sit outside in the perfect weather getting a bit of a tan and thoroughly enjoying ourselves.

We headed straight out of town after that back to Valdivia (ok only 6 of us out of 30 came back because we have no school Monday so everyone stayed longer but Laura and I had to go back with some others because of the huge amounts of homework we have). I'm already getting sore even though I didn't even make it half way up the mountain. We did a lot of walking/hiking in the past day though not even counting the big hike.
If someday I get enough energy I'll put up more pics but until then, keep looking at the volcano. So pretty!
