Tie Dye

Jen got me a tie dye kit for my birthday so we spent one afternoon tie dying a bunch of things. Most things didn't turn out but we got some cute pics of baby and I in tie dye!

L&L= 1 Year

Luke and I finally hit that one year milestone last Wednesday. Since we both had to work I decided to take half the day off to surprise him. I got to Cle Elum early enough to find his house (a big accomplishment since I've never actually driven there) and run a few errands. First I went to the bakery to get his favorite kind of donut (apple fritter) and my favorite kind (maple bar) I went to Safeway after to get frosting so I could write on the donuts. I thought they turned out great. When he finally got home I drove back to his house while talking to him on the phone. I had to avoid the use of blinkers and all that because he thought I was at work and I didn't want him to suspect anything. When I got to his house I told him to hold on a sec and I ran to the door and rang the doorbell. When he opened it he about went into a state of shock and just stood there staring at me, mouth wide open. He told me later that he couldn't figure out how I was on the phone and at his house. He was so surprised it was perfect. He couldn't get over me actually being there.
For our one year he had wanted to go out to a semi fancy dinner which seemed a little difficult to do in Cle Elum. We ended up picking a restaurant randomly (out of about 3 choices) and it actually ended up being a really nice restaurant. It was expensive anyway. Luke took me out for a 3 course meal which was amazing. We had spinach-artichoke dip, chicken dumpling soup, and he got chicken fettuccine and I got lasagna. It was so good and we were very full and happy when we left. I had originally planned to drive back that night but I decided not to and so I stayed and had to wake up at 5am which is what time Luke gets up for work. It was hard to get up but the drive back was really nice. I always forget how serene and peaceful everything is in the morning. I got to see the sunrise and my drive went really fast.
All in all it was a perfect one year. I couldn't have asked for anything more. We still celebrated on Friday too because that was our original plan. I baked a red velvet cake (I'll put pics up later) and I gave him my gift which was one of those Starbucks mug things that you can put pictures in. I filled it with pics of Luke and I and he loved it. Along with the cake, which everyone in my family loved too and helped us eat by the next day.
The last year has been so great with Luke and hopefully there will be many to come!

hot summer days

This summer, I have concluded, is way too hot. I really want it to be in the 80s again. It's too hot to do anything, but I do look forward to seeing my beautiful niece whenever possible. She's getting so big and she's very aware now. Kailey is crying much more now which just makes her seem more like a real baby. She's still amazing and rarely fussy. She is 6 weeks and keeps getting better as she gets older.
Luke and I went over to Jen and Robert's last weekend for dinner and while Jen and I ate outside, Robert and Luke played video games inside (Robert jumps at the chance to get any guy to play video games with him) and they got baby duty. Jen and I were really shocked to see Luke appear at the door with Kailey in his arms asking for one of us to change her diaper. Luke, who has only held her once because he was tricked into it, had been trading off with Robert between holding, feeding, and burping her. Apparently he took better direction from Robert who in Luke's words "couldn't take care of the baby while he was in the middle of a serious game." I was so proud of Luke. It made me love him that much more. Last week I had my appointment at the dermatologist (finally!) and they ended up taking 3 moles off. Two on my chest and one under my arm. I'm soo happy to have them off. I had to get stitches for the ones on my chest, 3 on one and 2 on the other and I'll get them off on Thursday which I'm very happy about considering I've developed an allergy to band aids and have to go around with them uncovered all the time.
A few months ago I discovered this awesome recipe online that put a spin on olives and cream cheese, if you've ever had that. It's one of Jen's favorite things to eat so when my mom's cousins came for dinner last week we made them. They're penguins! Super easy to make but a little time consuming. Still it was fun and they're really cute. All it takes is olives, cream cheese, carrots and toothpicks!

That's my update so far this summer. I want to dedicate this post to Anna, who inspired me to write it. Love ya!

Sushi!

A few weeks ago Luke and I finally got all the tools and ingredients we needed to make sushi! It turned out pretty good. We made California rolls with crab, avocado, carrots, and cream cheese. It was a lot of fun and we've done it again since then. I'm planning on making it a regular meal this summer. Yummy, light food for hot weather. Here are some pics:

First step: Spreading the rice

Second Step: Putting on the meat (imitation crab)

Step Three: vegetables

Luke!

Photo Op!

The almost finished product

Step Four: Cutting the sushi (the hardest part)

It kinda fell apart on me.

All done and ready to eat!

Summer?

Okay so I realize it has been years since I've posted anything. Sorry! I'm finally done with school, survived the stress of classes and finals and came out with a 3.5(87, Almost a 3.6 I might add). This was my lowest GPA of the year which sucks but it's hard to get as good of GPA when you're only taking 3 classes (as opposed to the 50 music ones I usually take). Luke finally won the GPA battle with a 4.0 though (who gets that in college, really?). Anyway I moved out of my dorm and came back home last Wednesday.
I was so excited to get home before the baby was born, especially since it was due June 5th, the friday before. Jen was supposed to be induced that day but the hospital was full (scary as that is) so it was a no go. She finally went in Thursday afternoon after 2 long days Ms Kailey (pronounced ky-lee) Madison was born on Saturday at 8:48 a.m., 6 pounds 4 ounces and 19 inches. She was, and still is the most beautiful baby ever, surprise surprise, and everyone is in love with her. Jen is healing up nicely and Kailey, after being hooked up to a machine for 2 days because of jaundice, is healthy as ever.
After leaving the hospital Luke and I left for Ellensburg. We had to move all his stuff from his house in Eburg to Cle Elum, for his summer job. Luke's friend Mondo and I helped get all his stuff loaded up and transferred to Cle Elum, where Luke and I got everything moved in. When we left that evening it had started to rain and there was some intense thunder and lightening happening. By the time we got to Dairy Queen, where we ate, we were caught in the biggest rainstorm I have ever experienced. The dash from the car into Dairy Queen alone got us soaked. The streets were flooded within minutes and we decided instead of waiting it out, we should probably get out before we got stuck. By the time we were ten minutes out of town we were out of the rain and looking at blue skies. It was crazy while it lasted though.
Luke works Tuesday through Friday and gets Saturday through Monday off. He started last Tuesday and is coming home today, thank goodness. I've been dying without him. He works from 6 to 4:30 which gives us 4 and a half hours to text or talk before he goes to bed, which may sound like a lot, but considering we don't just sit there talking the whole time, it's not. I'm dying without him and I'm so excited to see him tonight. It's definitely the high point of my week. Aside from seeing Kailey of course. Speaking of which, here are some pictures:

A little over and hour after she was born

First day home!

On the way to the doctor!

Sleeping, as always.

My favorite baby girl

She does, as you may see in these pictures sleep A LOT. She's a very good sleeper, so good that it's extremely hard to wake her up to feed her. She is becoming more aware however and is showing us her pretty blue eyes more (one eye is a little bit brown and the other is blue so I'll let you know how that one turns out).
It doesn't really feel like summer yet, probably because I haven't started working at the fruit stand yet. I'm still wearing jeans! That never happens. Just goes to show how much time I'm spending inside. It hasn't really seemed that hot though. Anyway, Hopefully the fruit stand will open soon and I'll be able to get my tan on :).

Memorial Day Weekend

For Memorial Day Weekend Mom, Dad, Robert, Jen, Luke and I all went camping up towards Chelan. We had an amazing time! I've really started to realize how important family is and how much I need them.

Sade loves being near water! She jumps right in and waits for someone to throw something

Tazzy jumped in the water too and it's amazing how much bigger her fur makes her seem.

All of us sitting in from of the campfire (Mom's taking the picture)

It was Luke's first time on a boat. He spent the whole time taking it in.

Jen spent the whole time holding her tummy over the bumps.

We were worried the baby might slip out!

We went all the way up to Steheken on Saturday and it was a looong day.

To the night and back

Luke and I had a very adventurous Friday after we got out of classes. We went hiking (in flip flops) at Lake Easton after lunch. As soon as we got on the road Luke's friend Henry called him and told him we had to come say goodbye before he left the next morning (He just got married and him and his new wife are going down to CA to live near the Marine base before he goes to Afghanistan). So after our little hike we headed to Cle Elum so I could see where Luke is going to live and work this summer for his internship. After stopping in Ellensburg for something to eat we headed to Waterville. We helped them pack everything in the truck and hung out for a few hours (I met a lot of family--Henry's family is basically Luke's second family. They're very close). On our way back we stopped at my house to sit in the hottub and didn't get back to Ellensburg until 1...then we went to Jack in the Box. Thank goodness places are open late. I thought it was going to be a really boring Friday. Surprise adventures are the best!

Here are some pics from Lake Easton:
