A painter paints pictures on canvas. But musicians paint their pictures on silence.
~Leopold Stokowski
I have come to notice that my favorite music to listen to while I'm doing homework or driving or really doing anything is classical. I say that in the broad sense of the word since the 'classical' music I have and love is from different periods of time such as romantic and baroque. I got a lot of my classical music (I have hours of it) mostly from my music 104 class which was basically an intro to music class. I took that class over a year ago and ever since then I've grown to like it more everytime I hear it. I think the process of liking it more comes with knowing it more. That is to say as it becomes more familiar I like it more. I of course love the more popular pieces such as Cello suite no. 1 in d minor by Bach, Beethoven's fifth (especially the third movement), and Brandenburg Concerto by J.S. Bach, but I also love violin concertos and sonatas and piano pieces, especially nocturnes are always relaxing. This music is the only kind Luke and I really both like and can listen to at anytime and not be bothered.
It's the type of music that is never outdated. So as you get tired of the popular pieces, always playing on the radio, classical is always there.
whew---way over my head babe. ;) I have to say I am inspired by the quote. Thats amazing. And I do agree that it is the type of music that never becomes outdated, which is pretty phenomenal when you take a second to stop and think about it.
