Sunny Day Shoes!

It's sunny and pretty outside today and I'm finally wearing my new shoes! I love them. Nothing like a nice day to try out a new pair of shoes.

My apartment is clean in preparation for my roommate to come back this weekend, I want to make her think it's always this clean when she's gone.

Unfortunately (not) I will be going home to catch the very beginning of Appleblossom (food fair, who cares about anything but the white chocolate sprinkle covered strawberries anyway?) because I can't go to the actual Appleblossom weekend on account of Luke's dad's wedding reception which is next Saturday. I got a new skirt for it because I want to make a good impression. Or because I wanted a reason to buy something new. Yeah probably that one. Anyway I'm bringing Luke with me because he has NEVER experienced Appleblossom! Something everyone should do at least once.

Less than a month before Kate takes the cats away! I'm even more excited today because I just had to take my sheets off my bed to clean them because there is cat hair EVERYWHERE. Don't even get me started on my comforter. Yuck.

Hope wherever you are that it's pretty and sunshiney too! Have a good weekend!

Study abroad!

This is Valdivia, Chile. The place I'll be spending four months of my life starting in August. I'm finally studying abroad! I can't even believe it. Remember that post a few weeks ago where I said my life was going too slow? Well now it's going waay too fast.
I went to talk to my advisor last Thursday randomly because I needed to declare my major (Yes, it took me a year to switch my major from music to spanish, and yes, it's because I'm lazy) and my advisor basically told me I needed to study abroad right. Now. Basically. He said that with the credits I have right now, I would be most successful if I studied abroad in the fall. So he walked me to the study abroad building (which is like 2 feet away just to clarify your mental picture) and introduced me to one of the girls who worked there and she printed me the application, gave me all the information, and told me it was due Monday (this was on Thursday, just a reminder). So after writing a billion personal statements (2, one for the application and one for a scholarship for the study abroad), and an introduction to my host family, filling out the same information ten times, ordering 2 official transcripts, and paying $50, I am done!! Now I just play the waiting game until they tell me I got accepted and give me all the information.
It's been a long four days.
On the bright side, I can graduate-assuming everything goes according to plan-after winter quarter!! That's in March!! It was a huge shock after thinking I had 2 years left of school.
And no I don't know what to do after I graduate, and I don't want to acknowledge being away from Luke. We've so far ignored the fact that we'll be apart for 4 months. But people do it all the time and they're fine. So there. Speaking of which he's sitting next to me wearing basketball shorts and a office depot collared button up shirt. Random. That's a weird place to end this post. But it's happening.

At least she didn't eat them

Jen sent me this picture today that made me laugh. Proof that Kailey is her father's daughter. Not that we needed any. She's becoming the cutest little mischeif maker in the world and she knows it.

Happy Easter!

Somehow I think this year was defined by Easter. I spent all day remembering last Easter and how things were so much different but so much the same. Luke was there, Jen was there, Kailey was in mommy's tummy. It's weird how it can be Thanksgiving or Christmas and you look back and thing, wow that was a long year. But then you get to a stupid holiday like Valentine's day or Easter and it's like, wow that went so fast, even though it's the same amount of time.

Today went basically nothing like I planned. Jen's sister Carly was here for spring break so I thought it would be more fun to paint easter eggs with a younger one there. Mom and I went to meeting and then picked up Luke (I missed my baby, I hadn't seen him since Thursday) and went home. We ate an amazing lunch of ham and scalloped potatoes (yum) and then mom, Jen, Carly and Kailey ran off to the clinic because we thought baby had an ear infection (she didn't, just a bad cold). When they got back we opened easter baskets (which I put together, the height of my easter excitement) and were too lazy to paint eggs. Maybe next year when Kai is older.

Luke and I made Easter baskets for eachother in addition to the ones we got from eachother's families and our own. Turns out 3 easter baskets is a bit much. He got me lillies though. I've never gotten them before and they smell sooo good. They smell like plumerias (my fav flower ever-mostly because of the smell) and they made me want to go back to Hawaii (like I don't usually want to go back).

My whole family is being taken out by this crazy sickness (Robert, gram, Jen, baby, mom, dad, Luke, Julie, all the guys that work for my dad...not even kidding). I was sick when I came home fom break and assumed I had gotten it but I woke up with a sore throat this morning so I'm a little worried. Especially since Luke had the same cold I had the first time so he could get it too. Unfortunately it's highly contagious and lasts forever. Boo.

Happy Happy Easter!!!

Spring? Why are you crying?

Why on earth do we get a second wind? Like, you're really tired at 6ish and then by the time you need to go to bed at 8ish (considering you get up at 5am) you're wide awake and ready to run a marathon (like that would EVER happen even if I did have energy). So I'm laying in bed trying to get tired again.

I did have a good evening though I have to say. I came home at 6:30ish and took a bath (it's been so cold and rainy today it sounded SO good) and then I did some yoga on account of my 30 minutes a day exercise. Needless to say it only took 15 minutes but it's a start.

I'm taking care of the roommate's cats until she permanently moved out (sometime in May, counting down the days) and I feel soo bad for Max because he's been alone and neglected over spring break (Sterling is the other one but I hate her. She meows too much) so I let him in my room and until he starts kneeding my head he can sleep with me. I think i confused him with the yoga thing though. He kept head butting me and walking in between my legs trying to figure out what I was doing. He's sweet but he keeps trying to sit on my computer.

Luke just brought over my blankey (Yes I still sleep with it, don't judge me) because I left it at his house (Yes I bring it places with me). He's so sweet. Speaking of which today is our 1 year 8 months! Yay!! It feels like it's been way longer. But in a good way. He came out to work today and waited for 2 hours till I had to close to help me. And then made me waffles for dinner. YUM!

Tomorrow is the first day of school. It's going to be a looong day. Work from 6-8:30, Anthropology from 9-10, spanish 10-11 and then human sexuality from 4-6. Okay now that I think about it not too long. Monday and Wednesday are my long days I guess. I just went through my backpack and threw away all my assignments and studying materials from last quarter. It felt amazing. I think it made me ready to face this quarter. As if I don't have enough in my schedule I applied for D&M which is 'the' coffee place in Ellensburg. I really want it mostly for another summer job. I'm not too sure about it though, my schedule is really patchy between classes and my other job so we'll see. Fingers crossed!

Spring quarter, here I come!

Day 1: Fail

I'm beginning to rethink the whole cooking thing. My dinner plan was chicken, a spinach salad with strawberries and rasberries, pine nuts and a vinaigrette and couscous. Sounds good right? Yeah. Wrong.
It was a complete disaster.

First the chicken, which we dipped in flour, egg and bread crumbs and tried frying in olive oil would not cook. The outside burned and the inside never really got all the way done. It wasn't even because the pan was too hot either. I think the chicken was just too thick. I told Luke we should stick to chicken nuggets, and I don't mean the homemade kind.

Second the couscous, which was out of the box, was gross. I have no idea what was wrong with it. I'm going to give myself the benefit of the doubt and say it was the flavour of the couscous which was parmesan...Which I would recommend avoiding.

Last the salad, which looked so pretty, might have been good if it wasn't for the wee bit of excess of vinegar. It was probably the best part of the meal though.

I ended up picking at the salad and taking a few bites of the rest before just throwing it away and eating cheez-its for dinner. So much for cooking. Luke and I decided we need to get rich and just hire a chef. Someday I'll probably look back at this and laugh. Right now it's just pathetic and frustrating. Boo.
